Difference in meaning do/doing every day

What would be the difference in meaning between the two below?

  • I do it every day.
  • I am doing it every day.

Is the latter emphasis for habitual events?

It depends on the specific action and context, but the second form ( am doing ) can indicate that the action is happening habitually at this time, but is considered temporary , not permanent. CJ
