Difference in meaning

Is there any difference between these forms or do they basically mean the same? Are both correct?

Make sure you don't eat when 'you are running'.
Make sure you don't eat when 'you run'.

Stop talking when 'you eat'.
Stop talking when 'you are eating'.

The two forms seem to mean the same to me, but I am not certain.
