Difference detween Big and huge

I found this site very useful to me. Thanks for the guru's/ geeks for giving us oppurtunity to improve our English.

Most of the people use word "Huge" rather than "big".. could any one tell me what's the difference between them?

I went to see some excercise equipments and I said that bowflex was really big .

Some people laughed at me and said yes bowflex is huge.

Please correct if there any grammatical mistakes.

I don't know why they would laugh at you. "Huge" is bigger than "big." Perhaps they thought you were understating the stiuation?

(p.s. - Don't use a 's to make a common word plural. It's just gurus.)

Well, here's the thing to remember. People make mistakes all the time, and only rarely does it prevent our meaning from being understood.

That doesn't mean we should not TRY to get it right, but you should not feel bad when you don't. People will understand and will help you.

Rick, I am planning to take off on friday please do let me know if it ok.

Rick, I am taking off on friday.

Is the above sentence correct? Or do I need to add anything to it?

My intension was If he has any work for me on "Friday" I want to know whether it would be a problem to him If I take off on friday.

Generally, your supervisor is the one who decides when you can take leave. You don't announce your intentions. I've never had my request for a specific period off denied, but if there are three people in your department and two asked for that Friday off two months ago, your boss may say "Sorry, I need you to be here."

Friday has a capital F.

Look at the amendment GG made to the word order in your sentence.

Take Friday off
