Difference between "will" and "would"

What is the difference between will and would in the following sentence? In the following news link, why is would used instead of will?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/01/03/perspectives/us-china-trade-war/index.html is the link:

Here is the Headline:

  • Why the US would never win a trade war with China

Top answer

Because there is no trade war right now. Also, "will" would mean no trade war that might occur from now on, whereas "would" refers to an impending one.

I don't see that there is much difference in this example.
