Difference between watch and see

Hi everybody

is it incorrect that I use watch instead of see in following sentence?

" I've watched your txt right now " (I mean sms text on my cellphone)

'Seeing' is an action that happens automatically.(Unless, of course you close your eyes)

'Watching' is observing something with keen attention and focus.

Here, I think 'see' would be more appropriate.(Do you watch an sms with keen attention?)
