Difference between two sentences

Hello,

1) We need to be on the same platform.

2) We need on the same platform.

Can you please explain the difference between above two sentences and also grammatical structure ?

The first one is correct.

After "need," you can put an infinitive: I need to study. They needed to eat before going to the movie.

OR

After "need," you can put a noun or object pronoun as the object of "need.": I need a dictionary. He needs her.

A prepositional phrase immediately after "need" doesn't make sense.
