Difference between take and bring

Hi , If I'm not mistaken , in general "bring" implies to carry sth from there to here and "take" means to carry sth from here to there although I find it sometimes confusing. How about the following sentence? Bring or take ?

" Can I ...... my laptop/ a friend ? (from my place to your place )

Thank you.
