Difference between 'so that' and 'in case'

Hi. Please help me understand the difference between 'so that' and 'in case'?

Are both sentences correct or either of them? If both, then what would be the difference?

1) She covered her face with her hands so that her parents would not see her tears.
2) She covered her face with her hands in case her parents should see her tears.

Hope your reply. Thanks.
