What is the difference between ride and take. I know you ride a bus but you can also take a bus. You can ride a horse but can you take a horse.

are there specifice grammar rules for this

There's no rules for TAKE and RIDE verbs simply memorize this way of transportation:

You can TAKE:
* a train
* a plane
* a taxi
* a boat

But you can RIDE:
* a motorcycle
* a bus
* a horse
* bicycle
