Difference between "I've been busy" and "I was busy"

I was busy- - the speaker is no longer busy at all. I have been busy -- the speaker is still busy or was so until very recently.

In sentence....I have been busy. What part of speech is busy? Have been usually takes a verb with and ing ending, but in this case, I have no clue how to classify busy.
