Difference between job and wok

In my test, they asked to match the definitions with the phrases given. The phrase is ' The regular work someone does to earn money'. I chose 'work' instead of 'job'. But, the answer is wrong. The right answer is 'job'. I would like to know why?? Plz help me!

I see no reason for 'work' being wrong in the context you have given us, but perhaps there is more to it. What was the 'phrase given'?

The phrase is just ' The regular work that someone does to earn money '.

Well, then, you cannot answer 'work', since that word is in the definition. You must choose a different word which the sentence defines. 'Job' is the obvious response, though 'occupation' would also serve.
