Difference between "in front" and "out front"
Hi
What is the difference between "in front" and "out front"?
I'm reading a story about a hotel clerk, and in the story there're many "out front"s are used. Like, "I'm still standing out front and can't believe what's happening" or "while out front smoking I see a couple wonder up from the bluffs." But I sometimes I feel like he is in the lobby, and sometimes just in front of the entrance door.
Where is it by definition? Is there any definition?

'Out front' should normally be referring to outside, but if it is the reception clerk, then 'out front' could be referring to outside his reception counter.
