There's not much difference but only one lik to can be specific and like ing(gerund) can be general. Compare the following: I like to eat pizza when I'm alone at home;I like to cook good meal cheeseburgers, fried chicken and meatloaf when all the members of the family are at home. (here you specified what really you like to eat and to cook).

No one says " i love beers". One would say "I love beer". Beers would be used in a sentence like- " we'll have two hot dogs, one shrimp basket, and three beers"; " there are several German beers that I like"; " there were 4 different beers to choose from."

Native speakers would say- "I like beer".; "they have a variety of beer there".; "We drank all the beer". ; "Is there any more beer?
