Difference between 'find' and 'find out' when the meaning is 'obtaining information about', please

Hello!

What's the difference between the usages of "find" and "find out", please?

I've heard that they can either 1. to obtain or get information about someone or something (by one's own efforts) or 2. to come to know about someone or something (this happens accidently or by chance).

Is this correct, please?
