Well sadly my first language isn't english tho I am an Australian citizen.

I am asking as I was told they are pronounced the same here. The "r" sound is silenced.

Now I've listened the US and UK pronunciation, it is definitely closer to the UK accent. In which I still can't really tell the difference..

I frequently get asked if I'm Australian. It seems that Americans can't tell us apart. I tell them that Australians are the ones with the cork hats who go around saying "Tie me kangaroo down, Sport.
