Hi, I am not totally clear about the difference between commercial and advertisements. Someone told me commercial is one type of advertisements. Could anyone explain more about these two words?
Thanks in advance!
Top answer
"Commercial" is both an adjective and a noun. "Advertisement" is only a noun. An advertisement can exist in any medium.

"Advertisement" is only a noun.
An advertisement can exist in any medium.
It can be on the radio, on TV, on a billboard, on a telephone pole, in a newspaper, magazine, on a soda can, etc.
I believe "commercials" exist only on the radio and TV --- and possibly the internet.
