Difference between clothing-clothes

This was asked already when I did a bit of research...it was explained as below which was not very convincing :

"' clothes ' refers to what you wear on your body.

' clothing ' refers to the entire outfit on you. "

Also please someone confirm whether this is true:
"Go change your clothes .. [You cannot say "Go change your clothing"]"
