Difference between 'at' and 'on'.

I have found following sentence in a book.

It would be amazing to look down on Earth from space.

But if I would write same sentence, I use 'at' instanced of 'on' as following.

It would be amazing to look down at Earth from space.

Please anyone let me know whether second sentence correct or not. If both sentences are correct, is there any difference between these two sentences?

Both are correct. 'On' is a little more literary.
