Difference between assumption and presupposition

What is the difference between an assumption and a presupposition? The online dictionaries give very similar definitions, yet I was told that there's a crucial difference between the two terms - especially in the context of philosophy of language.

It is also clear that we bring assumptions to bear on all Xes, and they can be called presuppositions, eg, that the sun will rise in the east again tomorrow, that humans are social animals, and that 2+2=4.
