Difference between ANYWAY and BE THAT AS IT MAY

Hi there,

I'd like to know the difference between ANYWAY and BE THAT AS IT MAY. Are these two phrases interchangable? If not, what's the usage respectively? Thanks.

Yes, they are interchangeable there, as a way to ease out of the argument. They are a kind of discourse marker. A difference you may see is that 'be that as it may' needs a definite object of referral for 'that', but 'anyway' does not need to refer to anything specific in the previous text.
