Difference between "affect on" or "affect"

While I was writing an essay, I got a grammar error in the google doc indicating that I should remove "on" in the following sentence. Please someone tell me whether I should keep the "on" or not.


Scientists and sociologists have been researching on various aspects that might affect on people’s personal traits and behaviours especially since The Third Industrial Revolution in which more and more individuals started to be more aware of their personalities.
