Difference Between "A Spell" And "A Charm"

A: I'll cast a charm to make you a good dancer.

B: There's a spell for that?

A: It's not a spell; it's a charm.

I can't see the difference in meaning between a spell and a charm.

As far as I know, the two words are virtually interchangeable. Was I wrong?
