Difference between a and the

Hi, I'm an ESL student living in America.

I got a question about the use of a and the.

My language doesn't have articles.

example) The Japanese (you don't say just Japanese)

All of the Americans

Don't you just say "all of Americans"?

The difference between sth and sth.

not like this?: a difference between sth and sth.

I asked it to my ESL teacher, but she doesn't even know the difference well....
