Difference between

Team,

I often get confused with can & could, Shall & should, Will & would, may & might. Could you pls explain me the difference between these words. I tried to find out the answer but couldnt find the correct solution for wht I am looking for. It would great if some one could explain me.

The same rule does not govern all of the pairs you mention. But there are indeed differences between them. See the following examples.


Can & Could

I can climb a tree. -- I am able to do so. (ability)

I could climb a tree. -- I might feel like doing so. (possibility)

I shall
