Difference: agent vs. broker

Hi there!

In an exam following was given: "Insurance ______ work on their own account."
I put "agents". I was told the correnct answer is "brokers". Is "agents" necessarily incorrect?

Thank you very much. Emotion: smile

Hi, Not necessarily. It's a rather complex question, although I'm sure the person marking your aswers thinks it is simple. Clive
