Difference

1. It has been 3 hours since we have been watching this movie.
2. It has been 3 hours since we started watching this movie.
Are both these sentences correct? do they convey the same meaning?

Not really. The problem is that the first sentence doesn't mean that it's been 3 hours since you began watching the movie. It's almost nonsense to me.
