Difference

how do I say if I would like to mention about two different marks.

Eg: The marks for A and B are 35 and 40. What is the different marks for them? It;'s 5 marks.

By the way, what do we call the difference ' 5 marks' for them? Isn't special noun ?

The difference BETWEEN the two marks is 5.
Saying that the difference is "five PERCENT" is somewhat vague; if the two marks are percentages, I would say that the difference is five PERCENTAGE POINTS.
The difference could be five POINTS, five PERCENTAGE POINTS, or just "five".

Percentages are tricky.
A five percent increase from 35 to 40 is 1.75 (36.75).
A five percent decrease from 40 to 35 is 2 (38).

I hate it when news reporters say something like "Unemployment has increased by five percent in the last year". If unemployment was 10%, increasing it "by five percent" would make it 10.5%, because 5% of 10%
