Remark and comment can be used both as a noun and a verb. They seem so similar. Do these two words mean exactly the same, and can be used interchangable? If not, what's the difference?

I suppose that in most instances, either will work. Generally, a remark is spontaneous, while a comment follows upon some earlier remark.
