Die out and Die down

Hi

It is somewhat common in Indian English to confuse these two.

Die down -- Die out

Could you please tell me how you find these?

  1. The noise died down soon
  2. The noise died out soon.

Or

  1. It's a tradition that's dying down.
  2. It's a tradition that's dying out.

Thanks,

Tom
