DIE HARD, BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE DIE!!!

Just wondering, while we're talking about the good ol' ACTION MOVIE -- Can you see an end too it all? I mean the Western came and went; there used to be plenty of War and Musicals during their respective periods of attracting audiences.

How much longer can Action stories substain themselves enough to keep bums on seats? Does Action now signify the cult of the personality rather than the well written characters they represent?

And where does the humble Action film go from here? Audience appitites are cyclic - any predictions? Can it evolve or retain its form? Is Action here to stay?

You almost sound like you want the action film to die.

I don't think action movies will ever die, the way westerns and musicals and war movies did. H

Yeah... but that's like calling Captain Corelli's Mandolin a Musical

If we're talkin specific genres then some genres seem to run their course depending if it's been milked enough to being "been there, done that."

If they broke into songs and dance, then yes, I'd call it a musical.

Movies with men running around and shooting at each other, be they on horses or in cars, all qualify as action flicks.

I thought the action pic as an A list form died a few years ago, with the exception of the Comic Book action cycle.

I think it may have to do with people buying home theater systems and staying at home instead of paying a small fortune for t
