Didn't/Couldn't you your name called

Hello everyone. I have a question.

Regarding the following two sentences:

(A) Didn't you hear your name called?
(B) Couldn't you hear your name called?

Do (A) and (B) mean the same thing? I think that (A) is quite normal when someone asks their friend if they noticed their name called in a noisy environment. Meanwhile, to me, (B) sounds like someone is worried about their friend's hearing problem. What do you think?
