"didn't prepare" "wasn't prepared for"

Dear all,

Could anyone tell me whether there are any differences between two sentences below?

1) I wasn't prepared for all their questions.

2) I didn't prepare for all their questions.

If there are no differences, it would be helpful if you would advise me in what situations and which phrase should I use?

the first sentence is passive, but the second one is active(past simple) so either of them is correct.

Hello, Clive Thank you for your advise. Your advise is very much easily understandable. If I rephrase your comment, the first sentence focuses on the "situation" when the speaker said, and the second one focuses on the "action itself". And this is the basic idea. Is it right? Regards, Hiroshi

I had done nothing to get ready to answer their questions, so I didn't expect the questions they asked. I didn't know what to expect. I was unable to answer their questions.

I have made two sentences below.
Are these sentences correct?

1)I wasn't prepared for his question because I hadn't expected such that question.
2)I didn't prepare for the examination because I had been very tired and didn't have energy.
