Did you used to...

Hi,

Are the following sentences correct? I am not sure about the use of 'used to' along with 'did'.

1. Did you used to visit that place?

2. Did he used to play tennis on weekends?

Thanks,

MG.

According to Swan, some grammarians consider those spellings incorrect, but they are common. Used you to visit that place? -- Formal, mostly BrE and rare.
