Did you see it by yourself?

Jack: I saw it by myself.
Keith: Did you see it by yourself?

How to ask is he saw the scene/thing by his own and not listened from other people?

Top answer

I saw it myself. Did you see it yourself? "I saw it by myself" is not a common thing to say, and does not fit your description.

  • I saw it myself.
  • Did you see it yourself?
  • "I saw it by myself" is not a common thing to say, and does not fit your description.
  • It could be understood to mean that you were alone when you saw it, though it is not a great way of expressing that.
  • In theory it could mean that you did not use anybody else's help to see it, but that's an odd thing to say since you never need anyone else's help to see things.

This meaning could be OK for something like a movie, though:

Did you see the movie with your friend?
No, I saw it by myself.

However you word it, Keith's question would be odd. He is questioning what he has just been told.
