Did you practise?

If i taught piano and my student came after a week. Would I ask him

Did you practise? or
Have you practised?

As the time he was supposed to practise is over I should use simple past, right?

On the other hand if I asked him whether he can play a certain song, he would answer:

Yes I can, because I have practised a lot.

If I were a teacher and I see my students after a week, could I ask:

Did you have time for your HW?
Did you have a look at you HW?

or should I use present perfect?

Thank you a lot! Emotion: smile

There is not a significant difference between the two forms in your examples. I, as a speaker of BrE, would be more likely to use the present perfect, but I would find the past simple acceptable.
