Did you / Have you?

Can someone advise what's the different between "Did you do that?" and "Have you done that?" Thanks.

Hello, Guest. I'd like to post the right response to you, but I wouldn't know where to start. It is a broad question, and it may have different "right" answers.

Each of these sentences is fine.

Did you do that? This usually means did you do that specific action. Did you break the dish?

Have you done that? That usually refers to experience. You watch on TV someone skydiving. You turn to your friend and say, "Have you done that?" In other words, do you have experience skydiving?

Hope that helps.
