Did you ever .. VS Have you ever ..

What is the difference between ' Did you ever lose yourself in the woods? ' and ' Have you ever lost yourself in the woods?' ?

Hi. The difference is that while using Perfect tense you somehow implies a connection with present situation. With ever Present Perfect is more likely than with Past Simple tense and I wouldn't say it, however, Simple is acceptable, especially in British English.
