I am not familiar with the phrase "rephrasing technique".

Many people confuse "know" and "learn".

Your animations are very clever and pleasing. They give interest to the video.

But you did not describe "rephrase" well. It seems that you want the learner to memorize a dialog and be able to understand and repeat it. "Rephrase" is not the same as memorize or even change the person in the sentence. It means to say the same thing using different words.

So for example, the sentence "When he was a kid, he stayed in New York." rephrased is

As a child, he spent some time in New York City.

Note: "Stay is a bit odd. It means that he did not live there, but a temporary residence away from the primary residence. It seems odd in this example. I can imagine that when he and his parents were visiting their relatives, they booked a hotel in New York, or their relatives lived in New York, and they stayed with them.

A less confusing example:

When he was a kid, he and his parents visited New York."
