hello everybody
i was watching a tv show and i noticed a guy saying "we invented this type of..." without pointing a specific time

is this right to say??
i think he had to say - "we have invented this type of.." am i right?

im so confused can somebody explain me this please

I have one more question.Will the meaning change if i use the Present Perfect instead of the Past Simple?If it does,can you explain the difference between it and the Past Simple?

I know im asking for a lot,but it's the last thing i have to know.

But sometimes the two tenses are used in different situations. And also the two tenses are sometimes used differently by different Engliosh speakers. (eg american vs british)
