Jane sounded like she had recited her book verbatim, and when she finished, she looked extremely pleased, eyes lighting up.

Do I need to put a 'her' before the eyes?

Do I need to put a 'her' before the eyes? No, although you could.



A book is a long thing to recite. Perhaps you mean 'a passage from a book'?



I'd remove the second comma (after 'finished').
