Did I use compose correctly

I'm telling someone who has been through something terrible that I admire them. I said to them:


"You've composed yourself with amazing grace and strength."


I've already sent the email, but upon reflection, I'm not sure that used compose correctly there. Is that proper usage?

I would say eg "You've conducted yourself with amazing grace and strength."
