Did I understand the sentence correctly?

-Informing her that he didn't pass the exam made her disappointed.
I am not sure if I have understood or interpreted the sentence above correctlym which is as follows:She was disappointed about the action of informing, not necessarily with the fact that he didn't pass the exam, which means that it had not mattered what was informed but she would have been still disappointed just because someone was informing her. Did I understand it correctly? Thanks.
