Hot Sauce Manufacturing Company is headquartered in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The company wants to open as many plants as possible in the South and has decided to open a new factory in Ruston.
You are excited to be announcing the new factory. Ruston city officials have been bargaining for the new factory for 2 years. At least 12 other small towns in Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida also wanted to be the site of the new factory. Ruston was chosen because of its desirable location, the low interest rates local banks offered for development, and the willingness of city officials to help build roads and sidewalks, waste disposal facilities, and recreation areas near the plant.
Ruston currently has an 8% unemployment rate, below the state average. However, its main industry, a timber factory is reducing its payroll by half at the beginning of next year. In the last few years, Lincoln Parish has lost several small manufacturing plants, and this is the first new manufacturing industry to announce opening here in 10 years.
Construction on the $4 million hot sauce factory is slated to begin February 20, 2011. A tentative completion date of Nov 30, 2011 is set. The factory should be in full operation by the end of 2011.
