Dialogue or dialogues

Please tell me the proper context that would prevail for the usage of the words "dialogue" and "dialogues."

If you are referring to the way conversations are written in a book, or what the characters say in a movie, it's dialogue, singular. "Dialogues" will be used much less often. One example I can think of is if you want to refer to multiple conversations you've had with someone.

  • " Personally, I'd say "conversations" or "discussion," but some people like to use jargon like that.
