00Diagetic sound - ie. "Let's use the diagetic sound to design the sound for this sequence" - Sound that belongs naturally with what can be seen in the picture. Eg. there is a dog in shot and there's the sound of a dog barking. Also includes the actors speaking and music that is naturally within a scene eg. a band playing.

From Diegesis: meaning a narrative or plot, from the Greek for narrative.
The word is probably Diegetic (ie belonging to the narrative) or non-diegetic (outside the narrative). I would prefer ex-diegetic.

Diagetic simply refers to the realness in films- Such as the sound of rain falling. Non-diagetic is more like music in the background

it helps to use the usual spelling, diegetic and nondiegetic. the meanings seem about right!

It's DIEGETIC, not DIAGETIC, hence why you wouldn't have found it in dictionaries.

"Diagetic is a term for music that seems to issue from a source within the narative of a film (such as a radio, singer ortrumpet player)." - cited from Keith Negus, "Popular Music Theory" at page 90.
