Diaeresis

Can anyone give me a reason why we aren't learning to use the diaeresis in US schools? It think the diaeresis would make the English language a lot more interesting Emotion: smile

The reason is that the English alphabet has 26 letters, none of which has one. How would it make English more interesting?

The diaeresis is supposed to indicate a new syllable in words that have to consecutive vowels such as naïve or coöperation, so it would not be included in the alphabet.
English is pretty dull, in my opinion, it doesn't use any word modifying symbols. Seëing some fancy symbols over some letters would make it a bit more interesting and relatable to other Latin derived languages.

Yes, I do know, thank you very much. That is why I put translations in parenthesis right next to them.
