Determiners: Plural vs.Singular

Hello,

Could you please advise which are correct in the sentences below? I made a guess by putting a star next to the sentence I think is correct. I'm not sure, though. Kindly check and explain if it's wrong. Thank you.

A. A lot hasbeen said and done. Emotion: star (because 'a lot' is uncountable here?)

B. A lot have been said and done.

C. A lot passes the exams.
D. A lot passthe exams. Emotion: star (because 'a lot'' is countable here?)

E. Lots hasbeen said and done. Emotion: star (because 'lots' is uncountable here?)

F. Lots have been said and done.

G. Many hasbeen said and done. Emotion: star (because 'many' is uncountable here?)

H. Many have been said and done.

I. Many was expelled from school.

J. Many were expelled from school. Emotion: star ( because 'many' is countable here?)

K. There isa lot of food on the table. Emotion: star

L. There are a lot of food on the table.

M. There islots of food on the table. Emotion: star

N. There are lots of food on the table.

O. There is a lot of pencils on the table.
P. There area lot of pencils on the table. Emotion: star

What about this? Do you think this is grammatically correct? and idiomatic?

Lots are buying an iPad. (countable subject, I think)

Yes. You can't have Lots has. It's wrong.

Grammatical but not idiomatic. We don't often use "lots" alone as a subject. The normal way to say it is: Lots of people are ....
