Determinar

I was taught that when we refer to preceding noun, this, the , such , that can be used. Then, in the following sentence, can I use such, that or the instead of this?

As an additional safety precaution, a person waving a red flag had to walk in front of the vehicle. You may think that this( such , the, that?) speed limit was very low..

It( Motorwaton) was much lighter than the steam engine and could travel at fifteen kph. This( such, that???) type of vehicle was considered less dangerous than the large, heavy steam wagons.
