Destroying the 'B'

Robots are building letters and destroy them after.
A purple robot has just destroyed the letter 'b' and built a 'c'.

1) the purple robot is destroying "the" B.
2) the purple robot is destroying 'B'.
3) the purple robot is building 'C'.

Is adding "the" and no article a correct usage?
