Despite such a long time having passed....

Hi

Is this sentence (even if melodramatic) OK to native ears? Any suggestions are welcome.

Despite such a long time having passed, he didn't let the wounds of the heart heal; he kept them green.

Thanks,

Tom

I don't think that many native speakers would produce that.

Thanks, fivejedjon!

Can you please help me make it sound native?

Seems like fivejedjon missed the thread.

Could anyone else please have a look and take away all the "anti-native elements" out of the sentence?

I'd be grateful.

Tom
